Restoration of the Andromeda Building

The “Andromeda Building” is a structure close to the Theatre of Andromeda. The Theatre – began in the first half of the 17th century and restructured in 1710 – encloses under its mosaic pavement one of Villa Arconati’s most famous water features: this playful feature, made up of small jets of water from the ground, were included by Leonardo da Vinci in 1508 in his Atlantic Codex, bought and kept in the Villa by Galeazzo Arconati.

The “Andromeda Building”, renamed for its proximity to the theatre, is to take on a new function in the near future as a multi-use space and a reception point, developing its external entrance through the reopening of the old pathway between the Garden and the Village.

Progress of collecting funds

The initial restoration plan launched thanks to funds of €550,000 from the Cariplo Foundation, €150,000 of which were contributed by the Cariplo Foundation and €400,000 from the Augusto Rancilio Foundation has come to a halt due to a fire in January 2015.

The post-fire recovery plan concerns the roof and the house of the Guardian, with interventions for the structural safety and complete revision of the coverage.
Total to be financed: € 600.000,00
