Sunday 26 June 2022 Villa Arconati returns to the glories of the eighteenth century

Augusto Rancilio Foundation in collaboration with the De Cristoforis Company proposes a new way to tell, indeed to relive, history: a series of historical re-enactment events that will allow visitors to see the eighteenth century come back to life.
During the appointments, scheduled one Sunday a month, from time to time some noble rooms of the Villa and the Garden will come back to life: the reenactors of the De Cristoforis Company will relive in the first person, through tailor-made clothes, volumes and period objects , the typical activities, the games, the uses and customs of the past centuries; but above all their stories will make visitors relive a past that has been (almost) lost… on the thread of history.

THE EVOLUTION OF THE COSTUME FROM MARIA ANTONIETTA TO THE FRENCH REVOLUTION

Each re-enactment appointment will have a theme: it starts on the afternoon of Sunday 26 June, when in the Limonaia della Villa we will return to the eighteenth-century splendor with the history of costume from the time of Marie Antoinette to the French Revolution. "L'autrichienne" - as the daughter of Maria Theresa of Austria was defined - arrived shy and awkward at the Court of France, but soon her exuberant way of dressing and facing life, between splendor and intrigue, made her a of the most famous queens of France. The male universe will certainly not be forgotten, which will relive through hunting: the favorite pastime of Louis XVI, but also of many nobles and bourgeois, combined business with pleasure, being one of the primary sources of food supply at the time.

The re-enactment activity is FREE for the public, upon purchase of the entrance ticket to Villa Arconati.
